Taylor Catton threw a shutout to lead Dunlap Eagles Varsity past East Peoria 11-0 on Tuesday.
Dunlap secured the victory thanks to six runs in the fifth inning. Jake Miller, Zach Stirnaman, Catton, and Charlie Mangieri all contributed in the big inning with RBIs.
The Eagles Varsity opened up scoring in the first inning, when Brandon Johnson threw a wild pitch allowing one run across the plate for Dunlap.
Dunlap put up six runs in the fifth inning, driven by singles by J.Miller and Stirnaman, a walk by Mangieri, and a triple by Catton.
Catton was credited with the victory for the Dunlap Eagles Varsity. He allowed three hits and zero runs over five innings, striking out eight and walking one.
Johnson took the loss for East Peoria. He went four and two-thirds innings, allowing ten runs on 11 hits and striking out five.
The Eagles totaled 12 hits. Catton, J. Miller, Jared Holt, John Day, and Stirnaman each racked up multiple hits. Catton led with three hits in four at bats.
Dunlap advances to 8-2 overall and 1-1 in Mid-Illini Conference play.
