Eagles News · Dunlap Comes From Behind To Defeat Canton On 5/14/18

The Dunlap Eagles Varsity stole the lead late and defeated Canton 4-3 on Monday. The game was tied at three with the Eagles batting in the top of the sixth when Grant Winkel singled on a 2-2 count, scoring John Day, who had stolen third base on the previous pitch..

Canton scored three runs in the second inning on a home run by Avery Dean, but Dunlap still managed to pull out the victory.

Dunlap  opened up scoring in the first inning, when Charlie Mangieri singled on a 1-2 count, scoring one run.

In the top of the fourth inning, the Eagles tied things up at three when Carter Michanicou singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run.

Andrew Pogue took the win for. He allowed five hits and three runs over six innings, striking out nine. Jared Holt threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen. Holt recorded the last three outs to earn the save for Dunlap Eagles Varsity.

Clay Schroeder took the loss for Canton. He lasted five and two-thirds innings, allowing eight hits and four runs while striking out two

The Eagles collected ten hits. MangieriJason Bollman, and Zach Stirnaman all managed multiple hits for DunlapStirnamanBollman, and Mangieri each collected two hits to lead the team.
