The Dunlap Eagles celebrated their seniors and sent them off with a dominant 9-0 win over the Saints of Central Catholic.

“Everything was clicking pretty well for us,” said Dunlap coach Pat Gornik. “We looked sharper today than we did yesterday. Our guys came out and cleaned up execution on a few things and we were able to close out matches effectively. Our #3 doubles team pulled off one of the most impressive comebacks of the season.”

In #3 doubles, Parth & Zaman had a rough first set (0-6) and got down early in the second set, but managed to muscle up and turn the tide to win the 2nd set, 6-3. BCC was able to turn the tide back and take a big lead early in the tiebreak. BCC was within 2 points of closing out the set and the match (up 8-5) before Shah/Patel wrestled control back and won 5 straight points to take the closing stanza, 10-5. “It would have been so easy for Parth & Zaman to pack it in after the first set. Losing at 0 is a rough thing to have happen, but how they responded says a lot about them as players and young men. They showed an incredible amount of resilience and grit tonight; they’ve got big things in their future.”

The Eagles are in action again on Friday at the Dunlap Sectional. Play begins at 1PM.
