Metamora Township High School vs Dunlap High School

It was a battle of the birds Tuesday night, with the Metamora Redbirds facing off with the Dunlap Eagles for first place atop the Mid-Illini conference. Dunlap showed strong out of the gate, taking a 6-0 lead out of singles before capturing 2 of 3 doubles matches as well.

“This was a battle between two really good teams,” said Dunlap Coach Pat Gornik. “Metamora is quite deep & have improved by leaps and bounds since this time last year. We’re fortunate to come out with a win, but we know we’ve got to play toward a higher level as the season progresses. I’ve got a few ideas for what we need to practice between the conference tournament and now, but I’m proud of the way the guys fought off a great opponent.”
